PITCH SHIFTER… ROYAL BLOOD-STYLE OCTAVES

No bassist? No problem! Fill out the bottom end with a pitch shifter

-

You can replicate the sound of a guitar and bass playing an octave apart by using a pitch shifter (or the simpler octaver) to shift your pitch to an octave down, then blending in your original signal too. Royal Blood’s Mike Kerr does this in reverse, playing bass guitar with an octave-up setting instead. Try it also with some single-note pentatonic runs and you’ll be guaranteed to be pumping out hefty Ratm/zeppelin riffs in no time.
