Notice that Eric uses a lot of inversions here; for example, C/E and C/G contain the same three notes (C, E and G) but the slash chords are played with E and G in the bass. They’re essentially still C chords – just with the notes in a Bb/ Bb/ different order. It’s the same with D and F, A/C# and A/E, and with D/F# and

D/A too. Try to think of these as more the basic C, A and D chords and you may find things a little easier.
