Bath guitar summer school
Total Guitar is delighted to see International Guitar Federation’s Summer School return to our home city of Bath this year, featuring our colleagues and contributors as tutors with a wide range of courses for players of all levels and styles.
“IGF has been going for well over 20 years and I’ve been involved with it since it began in one capacity or another,” says tutor and Guitar Techniques Senior Tuition Editor Jason Sidwell (pictured above left). Over this time, I’ve seen student numbers and the breadth of tutorial styles offered grow considerably. Having it return to Bath for 2019 is a big thing as it’s where it started back in the mid 90s and this year’s Bath Spa University venue has marvellous tuition rooms and accommodation facilities. Over the duration of an IGF
week, students get a real insight into their chosen specialism, learning from the UK’S most experienced performers/tutors. Every day is all about guitar playing, covering everything from technique and theory topics to repertoire; a very unique experience! At the end of the course, there is a special student concert where many of the key skills learnt are put in place and everyone gets to shine!”
In addition to Jason’s Top 40 And Funk course, other classes on offer include Jump Blues, Jazz, Acoustic, plus Rock with TG contributor Jon Bishop (above right), and Blues Songs with Guitar Techniques Editor Neville Marten (above centre). “I’m really looking forward to my class which is all about learning blues repertoire,” he tells us. “Hope to see you there.”
