Going Live

-

One of the benefits of the Sono, say Audient, is that it can be used as a standalone live front end – simply load your three favourite presets from the Torpedo Remote app (you can mix and match the various models and save your own presets in the app) to the device itself and plug into a PA system, studio mixer or use it with headphones for quiet jamming. I’m finding the knack to getting the tones just as I want them is balancing the drive level (that’s the Torpedo Remote power amp drive, remember!) against how hard I’m driving the valve. A tweak here and there makes a big difference.

This month has flown past and so far I’ ve only really explored half of the S ono’ s a bi lities.ihaven’ t tried re-am ping and nor have ire ally spent much time with the mix era pp, so it’ s good to know that there’ s still plenty more tod is cover.ican’ t help but remind myself that a modelling package like the line 6 helix stomp, for example, offers a greater variety of ton al options out of the box, but it’ s only a rudimentary audio interface so not a direct comparison. whatih ave particularly enjoyed about the so no is that when you factor in the software, it’s good fun to use–not something you can necessarily say of many audio interfaces. thin kofi ta saw ellfeatured interface with an expanded ton al offering and the so no really starts to make a strong case for itself. Its abilities in alive context set it apart from other interfaces too.
