great car advice for the home mechanic THE party is over for Townsville teens, who head back to school today.

But the revellers were given the chance to let their hair down over the weekend, with a beach party to celebrate National Youth Week.

For sisters Stefi and Tania Klein, it was another chance to have fun in their new home.

The duo moved to Townsville from Venezuela just three weeks ago after their mother got a new job at the Australian Institute of Marine Science.

Tania, 16, goes to Townsville State High School while 19- year- old Stefi will start studying at James Cook University in July.

Tania said so far they love their new home.

“It’s very different from Venezuela,” she said. “Magnetic Island is beautiful.

“We didn’t expect this beach party, it’s not like the ones in Venezuela.”

The beach party was put on by Townsville City Council to celebrate National Youth Week, with activities including a basketball shootout, an interactive graffiti wall and chances to win prizes.

Crowds lined up for snow cones while others chilled out on the beach listening to live music. A highlight was the performance by pop starlet Reigan Derry.
