Crushers trail early but fly past Norths
HERBERT River remain undefeated in the Townsville and District Rugby League competition after they dominated Norths yesterday on the back of a bumper second half.
The Crushers ended up winning 34- 12 in front of their home fans in Ingham but the ladder leaders were made to work hard by a Norths side that battled hard to lead 12- 10 early in the second half.
Coach Ian Schifilitti
was proud of how his side lifted their defensive intensity after conceding two quick tries and said they did a much better job of completing their sets in the second half.
“We had some mental lapses after half time and we came out in the second half without the right mindset,” he said.
“To the boys’ credit they did a good job of fixing it up and they really came home strong to get the result.”
With four wins from their first four game of the 2015 season, the Crushers are shaping as the team to beat this year, however Schifilitti stressed that his side still had plenty

of room for improvement. “The mindset around our defensive processes are good but we gave away a few silly penalties and got punished pretty quickly,” he said. “We haven’t peaked yet, there are still a few things we need to iron out but I’m really happy with the effort from the boys.”
Schifilitti nominated Cowboys under- 20s player Tahanui Tutavake as the man- ofthe- match.
In other TDRL action, this round Burdekin scored a 34- 22 win over University, with speedster Ben Henaway scoring two tries.
