COWBOYS prop James Tamou has again denied speculation linking him to the Canberra Raiders, saying “there’s nothing to talk about”.
Tamou has another year to run on his contract with the Cowboys but has been linked with a move to join Ricky Stuart at the Raiders next year so he can be closer to extended family. The 26- year- old has been back in the kind of powerful form that earned him representative jumpers for NSW and Australia but said the talk was all just rumour.
“I’m laughing and I’ve heard all these rumours,” he said.
“I don’t know what is going on and the media knows more about my life.” Tamou’s manager Sam Ayoub, A REFEREEING blunder cost Wests Tigers a crucial shot at victory yesterday – with whistleblower Henry Perenara giving the home side only five tackles instead of six with two minutes remaining.
The Tigers were incorrectly robbed of a final play and one last chance to put Canberra under pressure when trailing 24- 22 in the final stages of their game at Leichhardt Oval.
Tigers centre Chris Lawrence was tackled on halfway and, despite still having a play to go, Perenara called who also manages Johnathan Thurston, was in Townsville on Saturday night to celebrate the Cowboys half’s 250th NRL game but Tamou said the topic of Canberra was not raised.
“He was up here for Johnno’s 250th but I haven’t even spoken to him,” Tamou said.
“I’m contracted up here until the end of next year so there’s nothing there to talk about.” for the change over. Canberra would then go on to score another try and seal the greatest comeback in the club’s history.
When told of the clanger last night, Wests Tigers coach Jason Taylor did not want to comment, saying he would prefer to first watch a replay of the game himself.
