Next year my Master Three goes to kindergarten. My two eldest children are already in Year 1 and Year 2.

I know it’s a tad cliched but it’s oh so true – children grow up so fast.

Although I’m not tearful, I’m a tad melancholy over the end of this baby era.

I know one thing for certain though. I’m ready to say goodbye to our family’s babyhoods but it’s still poignant.

When I lament how fast our children are growing up, my husband reminds me that “we have babies so they’ll grow up and leave home and hopefully visit us when we’re old’’ he told me rather matterof- factly. And of course, he’s right. The goal is for our babies to grow up into independent, happy and kind- hearted adults who see life as wonderful, positive journey.

But I know that while I treasured, albeit with a deep exhaustion at times, my children’s baby years, the nappyfree years ahead will also be filled with untold joy, and hopefully more sleep. LAST week’s article was setting the scene for weaning from night feeding, I outlined the amount of night feeds typical for different ages for babies and when feeding to sleep can be a sleep association.

Today’s article is to give you the steps of how to night wean.

There are a few methods to night wean your baby.

One is the “cold turkey” method, where you realise that the night feeds are not about nutrition but more about feed- ing to sleep. This approach means that you just decide to stop feeding at night.

The decision to use this approach is best used in conjunction with some professional advice to make sure your baby is old enough, will not be hungry and can last the night without feeding.

Usually from nine months onwards this technique can be used safely for most babies, definitely over 12 months.

An alternative method, and my recommendation for younger babies or if you as a parent want to take it slower and gentler, is to stretch out the night feeds bit by bit and reduce the amount of time that you feed your baby for slowly. Even if your baby doesn’t “need” night NEW parents Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky are reconsidering their travel plans after a nightmare 30- hour flight with their kids.

The couple flew from Australia to London earlier this month and the actor admits it was “the trip from hell” because his three- year- old daughter and one- year- old twin sons were sick – and noisy.

“They literally took it in turns to scream. Like, one would kind of do it and look over and be like, ‘ I’m done, you want a turn?’ The whole cabin wanted to kick us off. I don’t know what people expect,” Hemsworth said. POP star Pink has hit back at online trolls who criticised her weight following an appearance at a charity event last week, insisting she is “happy and healthy”.

The So What songwriter shared a picture and added, “Willow said to me the other day while grabbing my belly — ‘ Mama — why r u so squishy?’ And I said ... ‘ B/ cuz I’m happy baby’”.

Following the post, Pink received a slew of mean messages about her appearance and has responded.

“While I admit the dress didn’t photograph as well as it did in my kitchen, I will also admit that I felt very pretty. In fact, I feel beautiful.

“So, my good and concerned peoples, please don’t worry about ( me). I’m not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either.” GIRLS star Jemima Kirke has spoken candidly about her 2007 abortion in a video for a prochoice organisation.

The British actor, who has two children with husband Michael Mosberg, has thrown her support behind the Centre for Reproductive Rights’ Draw The Line campaign, which encourages women to share their experiences to break down taboos about abortion.

While at school in Providence, Rhode Island, Kirke fell pregnant and opted to terminate the pregnancy because her life was “just not conducive to raising a happy, healthy child” and she went without anaesthesia during the procedure due to financial restraints. feeds, this doesn’t mean they aren’t used to feeding at night and legitimately hungry.

With this method every night you increase the time between feeds by 15 or 30 minutes – whatever you are comfortable with – and decrease the amount he feeds. If you are breastfeeding, time your feeds – that is, 10 minutes then reduce by one minute, feed for nine minutes. Just be consistent and make progress at a rate you feel comfortable with.

Healthy babies who no longer nutritionally need night feeds will adjust and eat more during the day, this is one way to shift their food from night to day.
