Post Box set to deliver

- LEE PEARCE

MICHAEL Hickmott’s Post Box looms as the hot favourite in tonight’s Greyhound Owners and Trainers Anzac Day Trophy race at the Townsville Greyhound Club meet.

The 498m race is the final in a seven- race program at the Townsville Showgrounds.

Post Box is drawn very well in box one and is a brilliant beginner and can put lengths on field when he hits the ground running.

But his main dangers come from Heath Ardle’s Avondale Tara ( 2) who can begin well on her night while Blue Houdini ( 7) has the ability to lead or come from behind and win, and Private Talk for Jay Schafer is a dark horse.

There are plenty of chances in the other main races tonight, with the Miles Kitchen Refinishing 4th and 5th grade over the 380m expected to be tight. The former Brisbane- trained greyhound Pacific Spring has drawn box one and is now owned and trained by John Barrow, while On Deck for Clarence Wilcox has been a model of consistency and has been knocking on the door.

Balzareen for Rhonda Goodwin is another who on her night could lead this field a merry dance.

Robert Reid’s Maywyns Marty has close to the rails, he only needs to begin well to claim race six, Hickmott’s Carpentry Maintenance Best 8 over 380m.

Arlandria for Merv Parker has drawn the three and is a good show from here while trainer Glen Olsen has two starters in this race, Photo Booth and Divvy Up, who both are chances.

On a side note, entry to the showgrounds will be through the Kings’ Rd entrance for all trainers and patrons tonight.
