Good Knight for Scott
THE Queensland Rugby League needs someone to run their premier competition, the Intrust Super Cup, after three senior officials resigned – two of whom landed jobs at tenpin bowling and touch football.
ISC general manager Jamie O’Connor resigned this month and was followed shortly by his deputy, competitions and representative manager Chris Rushton.
The QRL’s senior media manager Frank Barrett left their Suncorp Stadium offices last month.
QRL chief executive Rob Moore said yesterday each person had left for better opportunities and the organisation would be able to replace them in the required time. He denied there was a culture problem. Intrust clubs, however, wonder how effectively their games will be organised without the key figures. NEWCASTLE have officially confirmed Beau Scott will be released from the final two years of his contract on compassionate grounds. Scott ( pictured) has agreed terms with Parramatta but the Eels were waiting for the Knights to rubber- stamp his exit before confirming his announcement which will take place at the end of this season. The NSW back- rower joined the club in 2013 from St George Illawarra. “Beau has been an outstanding contributor to our club since his arrival but genuine compassionate matters have forced him to return to Sydney to be closer to family support,” CEO Matt Gidley said. Scott, 30, is sidelined with an ankle injury.
