We need to ensure Sharia law is never forced on our country

-

I READ in the Bulletin ( 21/ 04/ 15) a well- thought and precise letter from Kim Vuga that enlightens us all just how much Sharia law has infiltrated Australia from when I had a similar letter published on 10/ 06/ 2013 by the Bulletin in which I tried to bring to people’s attention the subject of Sharia law in Australia.

As then and now, my main point was to get people to discuss and debate the subject.

I would like to see all sides of politics unite in an effort to put in place now, while we as Australians still have control over our Parliament, laws that prevent Sharia law ever being introduced in any shape or form into any facet of Australian law.

All it takes is to get enough Muslims elected to Parliament to make changes.

I fully support freedom of religion and if you or your spouse wish to be a part of Sharia law in your life in the privacy of your own home or place of worship, I will defend that right.

What I do not and never will support is to allow any group or individual to try to force this or any other religious law into the laws of our country.

From what I can see of Sharia law, it is oppressive, deigns the rights of women and befits the men in any relationships. Not only do our women in this country deserve better, but most of our men have enough brains to think for themselves and to treat their families with love and respect.

In my letter of 2013, I quoted Winston Churchill who addressed his parliament in 1899 and although it is a long quote taken from his book The River War, which dealt with Lord Kitchener’s campaign into the Sudan, I believe it is just as relevant now as it was in 2013.

“How dreadful are the curses which Muhammadanism lay on its votaries. Beside the fanatical frenzy which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia is in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy.

“The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce and insecurity of property wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

“A degraded sensualism deprives this fife of its dignity and sanctity.”

“The fact that in a Mohammedan ( Sharia law) every woman must be- long to some man as his absolute property as a child, a wife, or a concubine ( prostitute) must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a power amongst men.

“Some Muslims may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it.

“No stronger retrograde force exists in the world today.”

Nothing has got any better, Winston, nothing has got any better.
