-

ANNE Dufficy wanted to pursue a career where she could learn new skills, meet new people and travel the world.

Shortly after finishing high school, the Townsville local joined the Australian Army as an administration clerk to experience a career others would envy.

“I have a few memorable moments from my time in the army and each year there seems to be another one to add to the list,” Ms Dufficy said.

The role of an administration clerk in the Australian Army is diverse and challenging. Individuals have the opportunity to gain skills in administration and communication, while still participating in general soldier duties.

“I’m currently working as an indigenous recruiting officer with Defence Force Recruiting,” she said. “The position was offered to me by the Chief of Army start of the year, and I saw it as a gr portunity to get ‘ our mob’ into a that will make not only them pro their community as well.”

For Ms Dufficy, next month’ DOC Week ( July 6- 13) will be an tunity to celebrate who she is and she has come from.

Ms Dufficy is from the Torres S land; her mother is a Tamwoy and scendant from Badu Island.

“I love talking about our peop songs, our dance, traditions and ticular our food,” she said.

“My mum cooks the best trad food, and during NAIDOC Wee brations in Townsville, she will s stall with traditional Torres Strait food.”
