Founded in 2011, 8Foot Felix have been performing at festivals and gigs around the world and are now embarking on their second major tour, this time through the east coast of Australia.

The group first toured together back in 2013 through the UK, performing with some of the biggest names in the music business and showcasing in Europe’s summer festival circuit.

Their genre has since grown into a combination of bohemian rock, dance music and theatrical performances.

Frontman and founder of the group Will Tait said they’ve come a long way since their original launch at Melbourne’s Open Studio back in 2011.

“I had been playing around with what I call pirate music and just sharing it with friends,” Will said.

“We’ve become more rock now with our guitarist on board … it allows us to really reach and connect with a great Australia- wide audience.”

The group have played at a variety of Australian festivals over the years including the 2012 Solar Eclipse Festival and headlining for the Rainbow Servant Festival in Victoria.

After spending the past few months busily recording in the studio, the multi- genre group are excited to give fans a sneak peek of their debut album to be released this year.

“We’ll be playing a few ( tunes) from our upcoming album on tour for people to hear,” Will said.

“This tour is really a return to the Far North as we want to introduce ourselves to the area.”

The group’s tour – which began on June 26 – involved travelling down the Queensland coast to perform in Townsville, Airlie Beach, Mackay and the Sunshine Coast.

8Foot Felix will be performing at the Herbert Hotel tomorrow night from 7 o’clock.
