Preston’s muffin meltdown
NO MasterChef contestant should ever serve a muffin to judge Matt Preston because he REALLY hates them. The food critic has such disdain for the muffin that he tears one apart on the new SBS series Room 101, and tells host Paul McDermott there is nothing good about them. Nothing at all.
McDermott says it’s hard to understand how a food critic and judge of a reality cooking show can have such contempt for one of the most enjoyable morning snacks.
“His gripe is muffins are just stodge,” McDermott told AAP.
“We tried to argue that they were a wonderful breakfast for people on the run and he got quite angry and tore apart a muffin with his bare hands.
“It was just to prove there was no apple and very little cinnamon, so he had a point to make about Australia’s muffin-making skills.” Preston is one of 10 prominent Australians McDermott invites on the show to discuss their pet peeves.
