The Block star for real- life comedy act

IS a musical production of The Block the next crowd- pleaser for reality show fans?

Reality television star Amity Dry has revealed she’s working on a warts and all stage version of the top- rating television show.

The Season One cast member wants to take her 15 minutes of fame to the stage with a comical musical production.

“It will certainly be inspired by the roller- coaster that is reality TV,” Dry, who was in Brisbane this week, said.

“Each year different people go on these shows and they become instantly famous and then they go back to being normal.

“But those people are left with – what just happened, where to now?”

Dry, who used the show to kickstart her music career in 2003, hopes to have the show completed next year and in production soon after.

She will bring her musical Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life next month.

It’s a comedy that follows the lives of four women and features dark and emotional storylines of unexpected pregnancy, post- natal depression and marriage break downs.

The musical, which Dry performs in, has toured New York, Norway, Sydney, Melbourne and her hometown, Adelaide.

“Often women only see the Huggies commercial of motherhood.” she said. “So I did this show about being honest, what it’s really like.”

Starring in reality TV contributed to the show’s success.

“It gives you a head start, people recognise who you are,” she said.

“People come along and they’re like, we know she can renovate houses but we don’t know if she can sing, we don’t know if she can write.”

Mother, Wife and The Complicated Life will be performed in Brisbane for the first time on August 28.
