Gulliver has what most buyers want

-

NEW figures from realestate. com. au show there is one Townsville suburb more popular with buyers than anywhere else in the region.

According to data released by the website, listings in Gulliver drew the most interest from potential buyers over the past 12 months.

Not far behind were Mundingburra and Hermit Park, with the three neighbouring suburbs all topping the list of most popular areas.

Harcourts Kingsberry sales agent Danielle Ronan said it was no surprise to see Gulliver top the list.

“The whole suburb has definitely become more popular over time and that trend seems like it will continue,” she said.

“A lot of people say that they want to get in because it’s part of the catchment that makes up the popular Currajong State School.

“Another factor is affordability, particularly when compared to nearby areas such as Hyde Park and Pimlico where prices have been growing a little bit.”

Ms Ronan said most interest in the area and surrounding suburbs came from locals, particularly young families.

“All those top suburbs are more affordable and have older houses so buyers see a chance to get in and revitalise a property,” she said.

“On top of that there’s a diverse range of stock from all price brackets which means there’s something for everyone to be interested in. Units in the area also get a bit of demand from interstate investors and that helps to drive a bit of the popularity as well.”

Ms Ronan said the results showed now was the time to buy into the area.

“There’s plenty of stock but it’s all starting to move fairly quickly,” she said. “If the attention is there then Gulliver must be on buyers’ radars and it will be interesting to see how the area develops in the future..”
