AFL star avoids jail
RETIRED AFL premiership player Daniel Kerr has avoided jail after dousing two people in petrol and threatening to set them on fire. Kerr appeared in Perth Magistrates Court yesterday where he was sentenced to an eightmonth prison term, suspended for 12 months, for threatening to harm Keenan Scott Blankenaar and Lisa- Jayne Ion in November last year. The court heard Kerr was grossly intoxicated at the time and had suffered from alcohol abuse since the breakdown of his marriage and sudden end to his AFL career in 2013.
