Lions find safe home
TWO young lions kept as pets in a cramped Gaza refugee camp house have been transferred to new wildlife sanctuary home in Jordan. A Gaza family bought Mona and Max as cubs from a local zoo that was damaged in last year’s war between Israel and Gaza’s rulers from the Islamic militant Hamas group and kept them in their small home in the crowded Rafah refugee camp. The lions and their handlers arrived in Jordan after briefly being left in no- man’s land when the Israelis closed the Erez crossing and Hamas denied them re- entry.
