Speed bug bites young

CHELSEA Kettles is just six years old but she’s already passionate about the Townsville 400.

The Kirwan youngster has been to the V8 Supercars event every year since she was a baby and has firm ideas about which team is the best. “I like the Red Bull,” she said. It’s not just the racing that grabs her attention, with Cars character Lightning McQueen a big drawcard, along with the more interactive activities.

Dad Shaun Kettles said the entire family loved coming to the Townsville 400 and it had been a highlight of the year since it first started.

“I’ve missed a few years because of rosters but the wife usually brings the kids,” he said.

Mr Kettles said he thought the event had improved over the years.

Mr Kettles was also joined by son Jakk, 12, and stepson Braydon Moody, 15, both big V8s fans.
