FOSTER FAMILY CALL FOR FURRY FRIENDS

- CHRISTIE ANDERSON

ANGEL Paws are desperately seeking foster carers as the number of unwanted pets in Townsville continues to climb.

The pet rescue organisation currently has about 50 foster carers looking after animals which need permanent homes but it still isn’t enough.

Angel Paws treasurer Tia Thomson said if another 50 people signed up to become foster carers, it still wouldn’t be sufficient to keep up with the influx of homeless pets.

“I don’t think we will ever have enough foster carers because we are always at ca- pacity,” she said. “Foster carers just need to have the time and the space depending on what type of pet they want to foster.

“We have to turn down a lot of animals because we don’t have enough foster carers.”

Foster carers will be required to provide food and a safe environment as well as taking pets to the vet for vaccinations, pet days and photo studio to be photographed.
