Hale not so hearty

-

AUSTRALIA’S fastest kid Jack Hale has failed to make the 100m final at the World Youth Championships in Colombia.

The Tasmanian raced below his best at his first major overseas meet, finishing sixth in the semifinal in 10.70 sec.

Fellow Australian sprinter Jordan Shelley also didn’t progress to the final, coming seventh in his semi- final in 10.83 sec.

Hale captured the attention of the nation last year when he ran a wind assisted 10.13 sec.

But he found out quickly about the depth of sprinting around the globe with Japan’s Abdul Hakim Sani Brown equalling the championship record of 10.30 sec in winning Hale’s semi- final.
