Green confident of finishing strong

-

NORTH Queensland’s quest for history starts tonight with coach Paul Green confident the Cowboys are mentally and physically ready to launch into the most important part of the season.

Forget the first 18 weeks of the season, it means nothing for the Cowboys now.

The 12 wins have simply given the club the greatest chance in their 20- year history to break a premiership drought and now it’s time to go on with the job.

The players are refreshed and rejuvenated after a 16day break between games, everyone enjoyed at least a full week of holidays and now they could be just 11 games away from premiership glory.

But Green is adamant the thoughts of his men are no further advanced than tonight’s Brookvale Oval.

“We’ve had good energy at training, so hopefully that transfers into a good performance,” Green said.

“Often you’re flat the first game out of a bye, but I think it will hold us in good stead for the rest of the year with everyone getting the chance to freshen up mentally.”
