Foster shy of target

TOWNSVILLE’S Brenton Foster has finished eighth in the high jump at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia.

Foster cleared 2.07m but was unable to make a new personal best of 2.11m in the final of the world event, which saw him finish in joint eighth with Indian Tejaswin Shankar.

Italian Stefano Sottile took the gold with an impressive leap of 2.20m while 15- year- old Ukranian Dmytro Nikitin was second at 2.18m.

American Darius Carbin’s leap of 2.16m saw him finish third.
