Police are copping it

I AM writing concerning articles in the Bulletin where they refer to the activities of the police being referred to as cops.

I grew up in the early ’ 30s ( was not perfect) and the word was a derogatory term referring to the police and I suspect the journalist who uses the word has a reason when the word police is the correct term and not that difficult to spell.

I am not a policeman, although in my travels, which have been extensive, have had a policeman as a close friend or associate.

The force is an important part of our society and need to be shown respect.
