Super IT grunt for BOM Marriage lasts month
AN AMERICAN company will build the latest supercomputer for the Bureau of Meteorology.
Cray Inc has successfully tendered to build BOM’s eighth supercomputer since 1988, for $ 77 million. It will come into service by mid- 2016. Environment Minister Greg Hunt said yesterday it will have about 16 times the computing power of the existing model and will greatly improve the BOM’s ability to provide forecasts and weather warnings.
“This will enable the bureau to issue forecasts and warnings more often, and with greater certainty and precision than ever before,” Mr Hunt said. Cray is a super- computing firm that was established in 1972. GABI Grecko and Geoffrey Edelsten ( pictured) have broken up after little more than a month of marriage.
Grecko has posted a photo of her ringless hand on Instagram, lamenting the split.
“No longer Mrs Edelsten,” she said, adding a broken heart emoticon.
She has also changed her name on Instagram back to Gabi Grecko. The pair wed in Melbourne on June 11. Grecko told her Instagram followers last month she suffered a miscarriage after falling in her apartment.
