MP distances himself from ‘ neo- Nazi’ rally hijackers

OUTSPOKEN Dawson MP George Christensen has come under fire once again this week after attending Reclaim Australia protests in Mackay.

Reclaim Australia protests have been held all over Australia over the past week with reported attendees having links to “neo- Nazism”.

George Christensen said neo- Nazis have more in common with radical Muslims than with Reclaim Australia protesters and have hijacked rallies.

“Both the neo- Nazis and the radical Muslims hate free speech, they hate the Jews and they hate democracy in general,” he said.

“I think it’s sad these idiots hijack what is supposed to be a peaceful protest against radical Islam, but then again there are also violent Marxists and anarchists who are mixed up in the so- called ‘ anti- racism’ counter- rallies, which just goes to show there are always fringe dwellers in movements but they don’t represent the mainstream.”

Mr Christensen had been invited to attend the rally in Mackay to speak about freedom of speech, equality before the law and religious freedoms.

“I spoke about the need for vigilance in defending our Australian values, our freedoms and our democratic way of life in the face of the threat of radical Islam,” he said.
