Analysis of the 2015 season by Fox Sports Stats has revealed the Cowboys are ranked the overall best team for a tally of tries scored, try assists, linebreaks and line break assists with 133, in front of Brisbane with 125 and Canberra with 120.

The New Zealand Warriors ( 117) and Sydney Roosters ( 114) round out the top five while premiers South Sydney ranked 10th with 97 and the Gold Coast Titans were equal last with Cronulla with 84.

The Cowboys are equal third for tries scored, try assists and line break assists, but are clear No. 1 when it comes to linebreaks – proving their key playmakers are just as dangerous running the ball themselves or feeding it off for a teammate.

Thurston has said the great asset of the Cowboys this year was the arrival of Coote and Granville to the mix, which has taken pressure of his shoulders and allowed North Queensland to spread the load.
