Shark visit ends badly

-

DIVERS saw a white pointer days before a man was killed by a shark as his daughter watched in horror off Tasmania’s east coast. The man, in his late 40s from Hobart, was diving for scallops with his daughter early on Saturday near Maria Island. When he failed to surface, the woman, in her 20s, went back down to check on him and saw a large shark attacking her father. He was pulled up by the air hose he was attached to but had been fatally injured. Glamorgan Spring Bay Mayor Michael Kent said the area was not known for sharks.
