Townsville Bulletin - - OPINION -

With the council going on about our water shortage who wants to make a bet that they reduce the amount of water we are allocated per year by at least a third or maybe a half to be able to supply all the new subdivisions and then they will also make a fortune in excess charges when you go over ur lower allowance. Alan 4817

Don’t see why anyone would be opposed to moving the union grounds to Murray, it is the sporting hub of the city isn’t it?? Jay, 4811

To first Australian 4818. Just 2 remind you, this country is bought and paid 4 with the blood of Australian soldiers, black, white, and every other nationality who was here in the 40s and since who thought it was worth fighting for. Get over yourself. True blue 4814

So glad that Ewen Jones has the interest of voters at heart while his Govt. is negotiating a FTA with China. curious though he said “voters” not “workers”. and could he tell us if it’s true that his Govt. wants to relax written English requirements for section 457 visa workers ? CA, 4810.

Re: Ewen Jones biased rant in Sat bully. You need to wake up and what your govt is doing by this ridiculous FTA. Chinese workers will be allowed by the hundreds into our country skills unchecked and take Australian jobs. So glad to see Ewen Jones supporting China rather than Australia - but what else is new. BH4817.

I always enjoy reading Jess Steele’s column every Saturday and her last piece was the best yet. Family really are the most important people in our lives and we should tell them so. Having recently lost my lovely Dad Jess brought tears to my eyes this week when normally I have a good laugh. Thank you Jess. God bless. Leo 4817

I know there’s not much on TV, Shari Tagliabue, but that’s no excuse for watching the contrived posturings of talent show hosts, particularly when you know it’s all a fraud! Please, let’s get some decent programs on TV, not just mindless pap and endless repeats! It would be nice if we weren’t all treated like village idiots. Ags C’jong

If the Storm and Dragons can take a game to New Zealand, surely the Cowboys can take a game to Cairns. Don 4814 To the ALP: if u do not support the ‘ turn back’ theory, u may not get back in. Tom, we. Has there ever been an NRL player that gets injured more then Steve Matai? Manly would have to have a trainer specifically assigned to the man. Give the game up mate. NT, South Tsvl

A whole heap of brickbats to the ABC, for closing all its shops, Oz wide. These shops were always well patronized. It was easy to just walk in, and pick out what you wanted, they had a great range of DVD’s and books for all tastes, and age groups, but now the ABC execs have decided they were too unprofitable to keep open, in their present form, nobody thought of asking us, the general public, all very well to say, buy on line, but not everyone has access to computers and smart phones. Reading in the paper that the Police arrested 18 for drug offences. Police stated that these alleged druggies were to quote. ‘ Taking a foothold and that is why they acted’. Does this mean that the Police only act if you become greedy. What about low key druggies and all the other such grubs around town. This means to me that if I am a low key dealer not coming to the attention of police I might be left alone. Wrong statement by Det I think. Bill Idagi. 4815

Hagar sat 25/ 7 gave me the best laugh for ages. WW C/ jong.

Cowboys, stop whinging about Monday night footy & low crowd numbers. If you played Tville’s biggest school footy final at 5pm instead of 3pm, Kirwan & Iggy would get another couple thousand to the game as family, friends & students of both schools could make the game after work & school. Unhappy parent. Annandale
