IT may be a good idea to eat a high- fibre diet to protect your new bub from asthma. A new Australian study shows that eating a diet high in fibre can help pregnant women protect their babies from developing asthma. Researchers from Monash University in Melbourne found that the process of breaking down fibre changes gut bacteria and produces the anti- inflammatory chemical acetate. The more fibre that was eaten, the more acetate there was in the blood, protecting the offspring against asthma symptoms.
