Bishop’s $ 14k mobile bars bill

SPEAKER Bronwyn Bishop ( right) has spent $ 14,000 on mobile bars and cocktail tables for functions in her Parliament House suite since 2013.

The Department of Parliamentary Services reported that from July 1, 2014, to May 31 this year it received 17 requests for equipment.

“These requests to provide equipment involve the delivery of, for example, a mobile bar, cocktail rounds, trestle tables and chairs and other minor f u r n i t u r e m o v e m e n t , ” the department reported.

“On average, each request is supported by DPS at an approximate cost of $ 488 per request.”

All functions in Parliament House were approved by the Speaker and Senate President, the department said.
