Hat- trick of titles as Douglas takes out Ingham Open

- LIAM BUTTERWORTH

TAYLOR Douglas enjoyed a triple treat as she claimed her third consecutive Ingham Open title over the weekend.

Douglas, 24, didn’t drop a set in her two singles matches and defeated Rockhampton’s Brittany Zipf 6- 1 6- 3 in the final of the first Australian Money Tournament on the North Queensland swing for 2015.

Douglas partnered Ashlee Staneke in the doubles and beat Zipf and Paula Simpson 7- 5 6- 1.

It was a case of deja vu in the men’s singles competition as well, with men’s top seed Tom Fancutt, from Brisbane, also going back- to- back. Fancutt, the Australian No. 36, defeated Townsville’s Brad Clews 6- 4 6- 4 in the final to ensure he also didn’t drop a set in four singles matches.

The Brisbane player also beat the second seed last year, knocking Clews out at the semi- final stage.

Fancutt wasn’t able to replicate his winning efforts, with he and partner Samuel White going down 7- 5 6- 2 to Townsville’s David Single and Cairns’ Rhan Burton in the men’s doubles final.

The North Queensland round of the AMT continues this weekend with the Mount Isa Open.
