Goodwin enjoys winning treble

TUESDAY night’s greyhound meet at the showground­s saw leading trainer Rhonda Goodwin score a winning treble from the 10- race program.

In race 2, the Yvonne Olsen R/ W over 498m, Goodwin’s first winner Scottish Clan scored by over two lengths in 29.04 from the Joan Newnham- trained Scorpio Jay. The Glen Olsen- trained Liberty Legs was third.

Goodwin had to wait until Race 4 for her second winner when Vapour Flight saluted in the Hughenden Cartage 4/ 5th Grade over 380m scoring by three lengths in a personalbe­st 21.92 from Winsome Tommy for Michael Clark. Cosmic Freeze for Graham Thomson was third.

Race 9 completed Goodwin’s treble in the Rachel and Emily Thompson 5th Grade over 380m when Bootydo scored by 2 ½ lengths in 22.20 from Elly Nora for Robert Lound and Patjack Lomar for Heath Ardle in third.

Other winners on the card included a winning double by Olsen. In Race 1 the Lounds Fresh Seafood Maiden over 380m saw Sneakin’ Around score by two lengths in 21.89, a personal best and the BON from Cool Reality for Matthew Mcguire. Petite Magic for Robert Reid was third.

Olsen’s second win came in Race 7 the Wee Win Kennels 4/ 5th Grade over 498m with Poised To Pounce leading all the way to score by a neck in 28.90 from the fast- finishing Knights Templar for Rhonda Goodwin and Zipping Carlton in third for Merv Parker.

Race 8, the Cleveland Bay Seafood Best 8, over 380m saw the John Barrow- trained Sindaryn begin well and lead all the way for his second win in as many weeks after returning from injury.

Race 10 was the Garrards Horse & Hound 5th grade over 380m where Snake Proof for Isobel Camp saluted the judge by two lengths in 22.16 from Mr Hoppins for Heath Ardle with Bold Debree for Robert Lound in third.

The Townsville Cup Carnival starts on August 11 with the running of the RQ Maiden heats over 380m and the 4/ 5th Grade Heats over 380m.
