Good­win en­joys win­ning tre­ble

TUES­DAY night’s grey­hound meet at the show­grounds saw lead­ing trainer Rhonda Good­win score a win­ning tre­ble from the 10- race pro­gram.

In race 2, the Yvonne Olsen R/ W over 498m, Good­win’s first win­ner Scot­tish Clan scored by over two lengths in 29.04 from the Joan Newnham- trained Scorpio Jay. The Glen Olsen- trained Lib­erty Legs was third.

Good­win had to wait un­til Race 4 for her sec­ond win­ner when Vapour Flight saluted in the Hugh­en­den Cartage 4/ 5th Grade over 380m scor­ing by three lengths in a per­son­albest 21.92 from Win­some Tommy for Michael Clark. Cos­mic Freeze for Graham Thom­son was third.

Race 9 com­pleted Good­win’s tre­ble in the Rachel and Emily Thompson 5th Grade over 380m when Bootydo scored by 2 ½ lengths in 22.20 from Elly Nora for Robert Lound and Pat­jack Lo­mar for Heath Ar­dle in third.

Other win­ners on the card in­cluded a win­ning dou­ble by Olsen. In Race 1 the Lounds Fresh Seafood Maiden over 380m saw Sneakin’ Around score by two lengths in 21.89, a per­sonal best and the BON from Cool Re­al­ity for Matthew Mcguire. Pe­tite Magic for Robert Reid was third.

Olsen’s sec­ond win came in Race 7 the Wee Win Ken­nels 4/ 5th Grade over 498m with Poised To Pounce lead­ing all the way to score by a neck in 28.90 from the fast- fin­ish­ing Knights Tem­plar for Rhonda Good­win and Zip­ping Carl­ton in third for Merv Parker.

Race 8, the Cleve­land Bay Seafood Best 8, over 380m saw the John Bar­row- trained Sindaryn be­gin well and lead all the way for his sec­ond win in as many weeks af­ter re­turn­ing from in­jury.

Race 10 was the Gar­rards Horse & Hound 5th grade over 380m where Snake Proof for Iso­bel Camp saluted the judge by two lengths in 22.16 from Mr Hop­pins for Heath Ar­dle with Bold De­bree for Robert Lound in third.

The Townsville Cup Car­ni­val starts on Au­gust 11 with the run­ning of the RQ Maiden heats over 380m and the 4/ 5th Grade Heats over 380m.
