Caletti in Roar’s midfield
TEENAGE sensation Joe Caletti will have another chance to run the Roar’s midfield today, with skipper Matt McKay set to again deputise at left back when Brisbane host Wellington Phoenix at Suncorp Stadium.
McKay’s fate to play in a position he does not overly enjoy was sealed yesterday when rookie Connor O’Toole again failed to finish training because of an ankle problem.
McKay was shifted to left back last Saturday, allowing Caletti to make his A- League debut.
The youngster then played the second half in Brisbane’s 0- 0 AFC Champions League draw with Thai club Muangthong United.
Caletti’s performance caught the eye and strengthened his case to be offered a contract by the Roar for next season and beyond.
“Joey was in a different class. ( He) changed the game,” Roar defender Jade North said.
“He gets in good areas, always positive.’’
North said Caletti would look at home in any team in ALeague.
Caletti will be joined in the midfield by Danish international Thomas Kristensen, who has missed the Roar’s past two games with a hamstring injury.
