Bureaucrat in the clear
QUEENSLAND’S top bureaucrat has been cleared by the state’s corruption watchdog after he referred himself for investigation when questions were raised about government contracts awarded to his wife’s business.
The Crime and Corruption Commission announced yesterday that no further action would be taken against Department of Premier and Cabinet director- general Dave Stewart.
The CCC ruled Mr Stewart’s actions did “not raise a reasonable suspicion of corrupt conduct”.
The director- general referred himself to the corruption watchdog earlier this week after a blog post revealed his wife’s public relations company had received almost $ 700,000 in government contracts.
