SPUDNUT SETS PACE IN ANZAC DAY TROPHY

- LEE PEARCE

THE Anzac Day Trophy final over 498m headlines tonight’s packed 11- race greyhounds program at the Townsville Showgrounds.

The final shapes as a hard- fought affair with a few chances worth keeping an eye on.

Spudnut for Robert Thomson has drawn well in the one alley. He loves this box and grows an extra leg from here.

Kerrie’s A Minx ( 3) for Glen Olsen is another that can go well after she had a strong win last week from the two box.

Bruton Miss ( 5) for Robert Lound had this draw last week and ran an impressive second to Kerrie’s A Minx and she does have good box manners.

Maywyn Will Win ( 6) for Jay Schafer is having his first run over the distance and will be the danger.

He gets home strongly over the sprint and deserves a go at the 498m trip.

Asa Abbandando ( 4) for Clarence Wilcox is the best dog in the field, running a smart 28.65. He needs to jump to be in this, but he has a strong finish.

Along with the races, the Greyhound Adoption Program will be at the track with some of the adopted greyhounds and their new owners. Come along meet these people and pat the hounds.

The first race is at 7.17pm and the night’s feature race, the Anzac Day Trophy, is at 9.32pm.
