Kylie on stepping back in time

-

KYLIE Minogue has opened up about the pressure to stay looking young in the entertainment industry.

The Australian singer — who turns 49 next month — has shunned fillers, despite admitting her job demands that she always look freshfaced.

“I don’t know if I do feel the pressure. I’m so used to it, which is almost a sad thing to say, but that’s just been my job for so long,” she said.

While there is pressure to stay youthful, there is also a flip side: when to rein it in.

“I look at some things that I kind of shocked myself, where I can’t believe I did that. But I wouldn’t like to feel I have to dress a certain way or act a certain way or look a shecertain way that is age- defined.

“I would like to think people are becoming more openminded about it — and no doubt they are, when you consider that 20 years ago 40 was considered ancient and now it isn’t.”

The consummate showgirl, whose stint on Neighbours in the 1980s shot her to superstardom, also revealed what she does to unwind.

“Just quiet, feeling safe in my environment — safe at home, or someone else’s home, safe where there’s no one with their phones, you don’t have to have your eyes darting around the whole time,” she said.

Earlier this year, Kylie called off her engagement to actor Joshua Sasse, who was 20 years her junior.
