Mentor backs entrepreneurs by own design

-

OUR entrepreneurs are critical for jobs and growth, according to a Townsville software engineer and start- up mentor who has designed the logo of the new Office of the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur.

Scott Rogers won the statewide competition to create the logo with a simple design that puts e for entrepreneur at the centre of the brand for good reason.

“I’m closely involved with Queensland’s start- up ecosystem. When I saw the competition I thought of it as a bit of an artistic challenge and decided to give it a go,” Mr Rogers said.

“I designed a bold, simple logo and kept the letter ‘ e’ clearly visible in the centre of the design because I personally think entrepreneurial activity should be at the centre of the Queensland economy.”

Mr Rogers is a savvy investor in US and Australian tech start- ups and a regular at Queensland start- up community events, including Townsville’s innovation hub iNQ.

He said with start- up successes such as SafetyCulture and the Jessi journey management system, Townsville was punching above its weight.

Queensland Chief Entrepreneur Mark Sowerby said small and medium enterprises were critical to jobs and growth.

“Queensland has just under 20 per cent of Australia’s start- ups and about one third of those come from regional Queensland,” Mr Sowerby said.

The Office of the Queensland Chief Entrepreneur is funded by the State Government to promote a start- up culture and attract venture capital.
