Rocker to start odds- on

- LEE PEARCE

GREYHOUND racing returns to the Townsville showgrounds tonight with a jam- packed 11- race program.

The feature races are the RQ Maiden 1000 Final over 380m and the 4/ 5th Grade Final over 380m.

Race two is the RQ Maiden 1000 Final over 380m and Maywyn’s Rocker ( 5) for Jay Schafer broke through last week in the first heat scoring by a massive 13.75 lengths in the fast heat time of 22.00 neat.

Drawing box 5 once again this week, Schafer’s Maywyn’s Rocker will start the odds- on favourite.

Dangers in this final should come from Belle’s Hawke ( 3) for Steve Dodd — this youngster ran a good race last week to win his heat and should be thereabouts this week.

Arthur Stevie ( 4) for Andrew Wooler had his first start last week, running second to Maywyn’s Rocker and will improve for the run. No Not Me ( 6) for Rhonda Essery ran well last week after striking trouble. She was coming home strong and is a place chance.

Race seven is the Burnett Family 4/ 5th Grade Final over 380m and this race has a few chances.

Among them is Big Sav ( 4) for Robert Lound. This youngster is a good beginner, has BT 21.96 and will be putting in the big strides.

Velocity Aim ( 1) for Joan Newnham is perfectly drawn. This girl can ping the lids and will be hard to run down on the bunny.

Maywyn Accolades ( 2) for John Barrow is drawn well. She has a BT of 21.90 and is a big danger.

I’m Alice ( 7) for Michael Clark can begin. She likes it out wide and will be getting home strong while Innocent Man ( 6) for Glen Olsen is another that can go well. He prefers the inside but has a lot of track sense and will be storming home.

Race nine is the Robert Olsen Best 8 380m and Black Mass ( 1) for Rhonda Essery won well last week from the four box in the BON 21.67 so he will start favourite tonight.

Dangers will come from Kerrie’s A Minx ( 2) for Glen Olsen. She ran second to this dog last week and will run a bold race. Madagaster ( 3) for Clarence Wilcox ran on well for third last week from the five box. She has drawn better tonight. Place chance.
