Olympic’s loss lesson

- JON TUXWORTH

MA Olympic coach Michael Brooks has credited the lessons learned from last week’s FFA Cup game against Northern Fury for his team’s return to form after a 4- 0 win over Burdekin FC in Ayr on Saturday.

Olympic scored all four goals in the first half with Reece Edmonds notching a double to ensure they moved to equal second on the Men’s Premier League table behind Brothers.

Brooks ( above) said the 3- 1 FFA Cup loss to the Fury last week highlighted the areas they needed to improve, which contributed to their blistering start against Burdekin.

“Despite the scoreline the Fury game was good for us, it got us hungry again,” Brooks said.

“We were down 3- 0 after about 20 minutes in that game but we really came into our own in the second half, and showed what we can do.

“We brought that momentum into the Ayr game.”

In other matches Brothers shut- out Rebels 4- 0 to keep their unbeaten start to the competition intact, while Townsville Warriors and Saints Eagles Souths played out a scoreless draw.
