TV show’s top town
BOWEN
BOWEN is a “great place to great pub and great people”.
This was the message Edwina Bartholomew shared with Australia as she closed out her final weather cross on Friday’s episode of Sunrise.
The Channel Seven breakfast show came back to town last week just over a month after they last visited during Cyclone Debbie.
The purpose was to highlight the recovery of the town while showcasing the best aspects of life in Bowen.
Ms Bartholomew said it was pleasing to see how far the town had come.
“It was great to have been here during the cyclone and then to come back and see Bowen in its best way,” Ms Bartholomew said.
“I think it’s nice that people are recognising that they need to come and support the region.”
Among those to share their stories was Alex Sinclair from Le Sorelle Coffee House who said there was a feeling of positivity around town.
“After the cyclone it took us about a week to clean up and we have been flat out ever since,” Mrs Sinclair said.
“It has been great having all the trades in town and all the people in- visit, a volved in insurance. It is really buzzing and it has been really great.”
Ben Martin from Marto’s Mangoes also had the opportunity to discuss the Australian Mango Conference which wrapped up in town on Friday.
Viewers were also entertained by students from La Petite Danse School with Mel and Chloe Nobes choreo- graphing their during crosses.
Also in the region was the show’s co- host Sam Armytage who was stationed in Airlie Beach for the morning.
There she spoke with Mayor Andrew Willcox who said the region was progressing well along the road to recovery. routines performed
“Considering what we have been through, things are looking pretty good,” Cr Willcox said.
Ms Armytage urged people to visit the Whitsundays during winter. She pleaded for southerners to head north for shirtsleeve weather.
“Come and spend your holidays here in Australia in North Queensland,” she said.
