Blowing in the wind

-

ONCE again we have been cruelly reminded how little southern politicians care about the plight of our jobseekers.

Senators in Federal Parliament’s Upper House had the opportunity to come back today to finalise amendments to the Native Title Act that would clear any legal hurdles for Adani’s Carmichael coal mine. One lousy day. But no, they decided Adani and the jobseekers could wait another month.

This from a mob that this year will only convene in the Senate for 56 days.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill damned both sides of the House, but Labor deserves a special condemnation.

The Greens were always going to do whatever they could to delay this momentous amendment, which would remove uncertainty over native title claims.

But Labor has always promised it would pass it — and pass it this week.

Indeed, yesterday its leader in the Senate, Penny Wong, reiterated Labor would support the changes. If that’s the case, why the delay? Senator Wong said the amendment should not be rushed through.

Rushed? This is legislation that has been before Parliament for months.

The Adani project, the most environmentally scrutinised project in history, was declared a significant project by thenQueensland Premier Anna Bligh in 2010.

Say what you like about Adani. But nothing about it has been rushed.

In any case, we dare Penny Wong to tell that to the would- be miners, rail workers and mine builders.

Then again, that’s not who this stunt was aimed at.

No, it was pitched to the urban latte- sippers that applaud every moment this jobs bonanza is delayed.

In some ways it’s unfair to blame Senator Wong.

When you are on a taxpayer- funded $ 200,000 base salary and you have never worked in the private sector, it may be hard to imagine what it’s like to urgently need a job. WHERE the hell to start with the latest load of tosh from one of Townsville’s best exports – greenie eco loon Jenny Stirling from South Australia ( TB, 9/ 5).

South Australia is that bastion of renewable energy that needs an extension lead from Victoria’s coal power for when the wind don’t blow for their windmills and the lights go out. Everyone knows that Ms Stirling hates all things conservative so her insulting letter about President Donald Trump and PM Malcolm Turnbull is just that; insulting to all Australians. Since when do you Ms Stirling speak on behalf of Australians with the use of the word we.

One can assume you conducted your analysis from information presented by their ABC. The ABC is nothing more than the left wing propaganda arm for greens, Labor and Muslims.

Do you honestly believe that the PM would put himself in a position of humiliation with the size of his ego. You’re kidding and yet again making a stuff up. Making stuff up is the reason that can be assumed why you never were elected having tried 10 times to get your snout into the taxpayer trough.

So the real whinge you have is somehow the PM meeting President Trump is connected to the Adani mine. Therefore we must spend that money on defence – because of President Trump. No analysis to back up such an absurd assertion. We then get “Turnbull likely hated….”. Based on what?

The fact is we are neither dependent nor reliant on the US for our defence. We have our own ADF and if required the Government activates our strategic alliances. The next absurdity is global warming will cause wars because CO2 will wreak havoc on our neighbours’ economies. Pure and absolute tosh with no analysis nor facts to back up such an absurd claim – again.

Ms Stirling also said global warming will cause tensions to rise as standards of living decline. That is what eco loon greens want to achieve by shutting down the coal industry causing the de- industrialisation of the Australian economy by denying industry and business access to cheap energy. The simple fact is renewables cost three times the cost of coal per kilowatthour. Every decent economist in Australia has stated that. They just don’t get a run at their ABC or Fairfax nor the business pages at the Bulletin for that matter.

If global warming is so bad why did the four main food crops, wheat, rice, maize and cereal have record crop hauls as reported in September 2016, by even their ABC.

As for the giant storms tosh, we were promised 11 cyclones this year by the BOM. We got one – so much for the nonsense that CO2 will increase cyclonic activity.

As for Adani’s railway folly, what nonsense. The rail line value adds to Australia’s and Queensland’s economy in so may ways it would be impossible to explain to any green global warming religious zealot. By the way South Australia has only one steel mill. Simple question. Where is the coking coal to come from to run the steel mill?

As usual Ms Stirling all you have done is confirm that global warming is no longer a science. It is a religion. PETER ANGUS, Douglas.
