Rape charge after date

- LUCY SMITH

A MAN is accused of raping a Townsville woman after they met on a night out at Flinders St and went back to his Mundingburra home.

Richard Boe pleaded not guilty to rape in the Townsville District Court yesterday.

Crown prosecutor Domini- que Orr said on June 23, 2012 the woman went to a number of different venues on Flinders St before she decided to head home about 2am.

She met Boe and the pair decided to share a taxi. Ms Orr said when the taxi arrived at Boe’s house, he asked the woman if she would like to have sex and she said yes.

“The two went inside the house, they went inside into the defendant’s bedroom together and they became sexually intimate,” she said. Ms Orr said the woman then decided she wanted to go home and asked Boe his address.

“( He) wouldn’t give her the address like she had asked. Instead, he grabbed her arms and threw her back on the bed,” she said.

Boe then allegedly held the woman’s arms and raped her.

“( She) told the defendant to stop but he didn’t,” Ms Orr said. “She began crying and continued to ask him to stop.

“In an attempt to make the defendant stop, ( she) used her hand to punch out at the de- fendant. It was only then that he stopped.”

Ms Orr said the woman pushed the man away, got up, grabbed some items and left.

Ms Orr said the woman ran away but did not know where she was. She phoned a man.

“His impression of ( her) was that she was very upset, she was crying. She told him some detail about what had just happened and what the defendant had done to her,” she said.

The man reported the leged rape to police.

The court was closed yesterday while the alleged victim gave her testimony.

The jury also expects to hear evidence from two police officers during the trial. al-
