Volunteers sought for vital roles

-

CANCER isn’t a diagnosis you should go through alone – which is why Cancer Council Queensland is calling on motivated locals to sign up as community support volunteers.

Community support volunteers provide practical or emotional support to cancer patients undergoing treatment, offering hope and encouragement at a time when it’s needed most.

Cancer Council has a range of roles available such as the face- to- face peer support service, Hospital Based Volunteer program, ESA Wig and Turban service and our transport bus service.

Patients can seek support at any stage of their cancer journey, from time of diagnosis, during and post treatment.

Last year thousands of people impacted by cancer across Queensland benefited from the emotional support, empathy, hope and encouragement of our community support volunteers.

If you are looking to volunteer, have great listening skills and an empathetic nature, you would be well- suited for our roles. Volunteering is a very rewarding experience and a great way to give back.

Those interested need to submit an application before May 19 via the “Be Involved” tab at cancerqld. org. au or by calling 13 11 20.

For more information about other support services Cancer Council Queensland offers, visit cancerqld. org. au or please phone 13 11 20. MS CHRIS McMILLAN, CEO Cancer Council
