Sky Lark inside

- LEE PEARCE

THE RQ Young Guns Final over the 380m headlines tonight’s 10- race greyhound program at the Townsville Showgrounds.

The box draw has certainly played a role in this final with Sky Lark ( 1) for Michael Hickmott on the inside.

Sky Lark flew the lids last week, going down by a quarter- length to Whatta Pass, but he will be improved for the run.

Innocent Man ( 3) for Glen Olsen can begin well and will be up there and running on strong.

Back Street Boy ( 7) for Harold Hovi ran the fastest heat time and should be right up there.

Belle’s Hawke ( 8) for Steve Dodd is an up- and- coming youngster and he has drawn wide, but with a clean run he could pose a danger.

Meanwhile Race 5 is the Lorraine Heath M/ 5th Grade over 498m.

This race has a few chances with Are Jay Duree ( 1) for Kaye Taylor drawing well. She has raced twice over this distance for two seconds and has each way claims.

Queen Of Cawdor ( 3) for Jay Schafer will probably start favourite. At her only start over this distance, she went down by a quarter- length to Whatta Pass and she is well drawn and will be hard to beat.

Zipping Outlaw ( 7) for Rhonda Essery has had two starts over this distance without much luck, but he’s drawn to stay out of trouble.

Streaks Of Gold ( 8) for Gavin McDougall can begin brilliantly on her night and she runs home strong to be a place chance.

Race 7 is the O’Reilly Pet Food Best 8 over the 380m.

What a field for this Best 8. There are some smart beginners in this race including Black Mass ( 6) for Rhonda Essery who can begin on his night and has a best time of 21.67 seconds.

Face Time ( 1) for Glen Olsen has drawn well and has been freshened up and he will be hard to beat with a best time of 21.78.

Rockhampton visitor Percy’s Lad ( 5) for Darren Taylor won from box six last week in 21.76 and has each way claims while Madagaster ( 6) for Clarence Wilcox is another that can go well.
