Saluting service of wives in song

A TOWNSVILLE widow has shared the emotional loss of her Vietnam Veteran husband through song as part of a new national support and awareness project.

Six Australian songwriter­s have collaborat­ed with almost 100 women across Australia to create The Soldiers Wife; a multifacet­ed project offering a voice for the women and families whose loved ones have served Australia.

To celebrate the release of The Soldiers Wife the group will give a special performanc­e in Townsville.

Over the past 30 months, a small group of Queensland songwr went on a truly remarkable s writing journey to tell the storie women whose partners have serv conflict over the past 60 years.

The songwriter­s have talked t most 100 women, aged from 25 to from varying background­s and flicts, from remote and regional a to inner cities.

The artists use their voices and muse to hold legacy to these st and share them on stage; these are just stories of incredible women, are stories of Australia’s history an the new generation.
