- RACHEL RILEY

A MAJOR palm oil producer is donating $ 850,000 to YWAM Medical Ships to assist the delivery of healthcare and training in some of Papua New Guinea’s most remote areas.

New Britain Palm Oil Limited has seen the work that YWAM Medical Ships had achieved on the ground, which prompted the organisation to donate $ 212,500 per annum for the next four years through their foundation.

“YWAM operates in many of the areas that New Britain Palm Oil currently operates,” NBPOL director Sir Brown Ba said. “It is our social obligation to help in such a way.

“This will be the largest donation that New Britain Palm Oil has made through the foundation – we are very proud.”

YWAM Medical Ships managing director Ken Mulligan expressed his gratitude to NBPOL.

“NBPOL’s donation will impact thousands of people directly living in isolated areas,” he said. “( This) enable us to help thousands more.”

In another boost for YWAM, Puma Energy, PNG’s leading fuel and lubricants supplier, has announced an extension of its existing sponsorship of fuel and lubricants to support the medical ships’ work.

Since the beginning of 2017, YWAM Medical Ships has delivered over 130,000 health care and training services, benefiting more than 14,000 patients in 114 villages. will
