BENNY AND BENJI SHOW MAY RETURN FOR SEQUEL

- TRAVIS MEYN

BENJI Marshall’s Broncos dalliance is set to continue after coach Wayne Bennett revealed the former Kiwis star would be offered a contract extension.

Marshall will retain his berth at five- eighth against the Roosters at Allianz Stadium tonight after Anthony Milford was concussed in his Origin debut.

Marshall played his first game in the halves for Brisbane in last week’s loss to the Warriors and will partner Ben Hunt again.

Having a 257- game NRL veteran as back- up has been a blessing for Bennett and he is keen for Marshall to extend his tenure at Red Hill.

“Yeah we will ( look to resign him),” Bennett said.

“I was overseas at the time when the decision was made about Benji coming here. The critics and the ones who want to continually second guess whatever you do had plenty to stay.

“Right now, Milford is out and couldn’t play last week either.

“Benji has been a great investment for us. We’ve got a quality player playing a key position in our team.”

There were glimpses of Marshall’s brilliance in the loss to the Warriors and he will be even more comfortable against the Roosters having had a run at five- eighth under his belt.

His first appearance for the Broncos came as a bench hooker before he suffered a broken wrist playing for Redcliffe in the Intrust Super Cup.

Marshall, 32, said it had been a frustrating start to life at the Broncos but he was now finding his feet.

“It was a little bit frustrating but at the same time I realised the position I was in when I came here,” he said.

“That was to cover for those ( starting players). I knew what I was getting into coming here.

“I played in the middle in my first game and I’d never done that in my career.”
