- EMMA CHADWICK

CHARTERS Towers singer Casey Clemments and drummer Rob Howe are among more than 100 musicians set to entertain crowds across six stages at the Palm Creek Folk Festival.

Organisers of the festival at Mountain View Lake Eco Park near Giru expect up to 20,000 people through the gates from today to Sunday.

Ms Clemments, who is the lead singer of KC and the Moonlight band, said she was excited to perform. “It is a great little festival out there,” she said.

“I absolutely look forward to it every year because there are amazing like- minded people and it is always very welcoming.”

Festival co- ordinator John Hotschilt said the four- day event would include 50th anniversary celebrations for the Townsville Folk Club and two new stage venues.

“The kids’ festival is being run by CaJam this year which will have local circus performers and workshops in juggling and aerial acrobatics,” he said.

Mr Hotschilt said the popular bush dance would also see people up dancing on Saturday night.

“Everything fires up on every stage from 12pm on Friday and so far we still have some camping and plenty of day tickets available,” he said.

“We have lit up the entrance with big roadway signage at the entrance this year to make the turn off the highway safer.”
