No compo for illegal entrants

-

WHEN will we ever get a government in Australia with one ounce of intestinal fortitude?

Malcolm Turnbull finds it easy to pour scorn upon Australian welfare recipients but he springs to attention and salutes when ordered by some un- Australian court to pay up $ 70 million to a bunch of unknowns who were arrested for illegal entry.

This of course is a matter of the law and all of its workings, delivering a dose of right and wrong, according to the dictates of a very small bunch of the intelligentsia who were born in the purple, educated in fine silk wrappings and who probably had bugger all life’s experience to call their own.

Unlike Malcolm Turnbull, I would have very little trouble saying no to these people and their very much overpaid lawyers.

No to paying compensation where no offence has been caused except that which any person of sound mind and natural common sense would have or should have expected to occur upon interception, in- terrogation, and detention for illegal entry upon a sovereign nation’s territorial waters.

No compensation for illegal persons who have done nothing for Australia, this being in line with the compensation paid to Australian soldiers after World War I.

How much is a dead Australian soldier worth?

Bring on the next election. The people of Queensland want to see an end to both the Coalition and Labor. K. R. EUSTANCE,

Annandale.
